Veronica Baker Amores

Veronica is driven by the desire to help others see their own potential and propel their life experiences into acceptance letters and scholarship offers. To support her undergraduate degree, graduate degree, language study, and international field research, she personally received over half a million dollars in scholarship, grant, and financial aid offers from universities, foundations, and the U.S. government.

As an undergraduate, Veronica began working with a top tutoring company and became one of the highest-rated GRE coaches in the Denver area. She soon realized that she wanted to use her skills in tutoring, editing, graphic design, and coaching to support applicants who aim to make a positive difference in the world—especially those coming from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in graduate school. Veronica has helped students get hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship offers and achieve their dreams of studying at top universities.

Veronica has a master’s degree in global affairs from Yale University, which she attended with a full-ride scholarship, teaching fellowship, and living stipend. At Yale, she also worked as a Kerry Fellow, providing direct research and policy support to former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. She was the Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Journal of International Affairs and led the publication’s first re-design since its creation. She was also selected for Yale’s Startup Accelerator program, where her venture won first place in the Tsai CITY Spring 2020 pitch competition.

Veronica has served on scholarship selection committees in multiple countries and coached students from all over the world. She now splits her time between running Ascent Admissions and leading the nonprofit she founded while at Yale, The Global Climbing Initiative.
